The Hemsby
Wind Farm
Development

Photomontage of view from Seagull Road, Scratby

SLP Energy intends to submit a planning application to Great Yarmouth Borough Council for the construction and operation of a wind farm near Hemsby, Norfolk.

The proposal consists of four wind turbines and associated infrastructure, located on agricultural land around the disused meteorological station, between the villages of Hemsby and Ormesby St Margaret in Norfolk.

An initial application was submitted in August 2007, but withdrawn in December 2007. Some concerns were raised in connection with the application and although SLP Energy requested that Great Yarmouth Borough Council extend the determination period, to enable SLP to address these concerns, no extension was granted.

SLP Energy is currently in discussion with various statutory consultees on the modified plans for the Hemsby Wind Farm. Further public consultation will be undertaken prior to resubmission of an amended application.

A meteorological mast is currently in position on the disused meteorological station, to gather data on the wind speeds and direction.

A Public Exhibition was held on 14th June 2007 at Hemsby Village Hall.
